Just what does Psalm 109, verse 8 say?
“Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”
Here’s the neat bit. What does verse 9 say?
“Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.”
And 10, 11, & 12 don’t get much cheerier. No, psalm 109 is, in general, real heavy with death, widow, orphans, creditors, and general personal destruction of the person being discussed. It is a Dear Lord, smite this motherfucker so hard his descendants have a birth mark that reads OW, FUCK! kind of Psalm.
They cynicism of that dodge, the “Oh we didn’t mean the killing part, just the out-of-office part”, that’s what gets me. At a time when the secret service is getting more death threats than any president in history, that’s a special kind of cynical.
The Bible says what it says. And we know what you’re saying with this quote.
