Debbie Schlussel On The Rape Of Lara Logan: “It Kinda Warms My Heart.”

Right-wing Blogger Debbie Schlussel’s nutty rantings are proof that anyone in America can make it – common sense, ethics, and sanity are not pre-requisites.

Debbie Schlussel, another incarnation of the obnoxious, bigoted, mentally vacuous, right wing-blondes, has some interesting words for CBS’s Lara Logan, who was sexually assaulted in Egypt during the protests.

Here’s a gem from her blog:

“As I’ve noted before, it bothers me not a lick when mainstream media reporters who keep telling us Muslims and Islam are peaceful get a taste of just how “peaceful” Muslims and Islam really are. In fact, it kinda warms my heart.

… How fitting that Lara Logan was “liberated” by Muslims in Liberation Square while she was gushing over the other part of the “liberation.”

Hope you’re enjoying the revolution, Lara! Alhamdilllullah [praise allah].”

Wonder what would happen if others made similar sentiments…

  1. Waj, that’s so obscene it makes me want to believe you got your sources wrong. A tiny, naive part of me hopes you’ve simply made a minor mistake in quoting Ms. Schlussel…but the greater part of me, the one that has traveled some of the harshest human landscapes on the planet, suspects you’ve sampled this accurately and that she really said it.

Rather than hide from the ugliness, then, maybe we can turn it into a teaching point for the rest of us: Oftentimes the most barbaric abuses are carried out by those who feel compelled to proclaim their righteousness and pretend to own the highest moral ground. Imagine – this cruelty is heaped on Ms. Logan even while her wounds still ache. It also harms all those who care about her…and 1.3 billion Muslims…and several billion non-Muslims who maintain the capacity to respect and love fellow humans despite differing faiths.

It’s hard to think of anyone on the planet that Ms. Schlussel DIDN’T set out to injure with her sweet, simple little malevolent giggle.

Most profoundly, it defies all reason to imagine any rational woman laughing at the sexual battering of another.

If it’s any consolation, I’d like to point out another generality: Oftentimes those who disrespect strangers respect themselves even less, and those who hate on strangers hold an even deeper hatred of themselves.

  2. This is sickening, to say the least. As Rob above mentioned, I was also hoping that you misquoted, but unfortunately the truth is that human beings are capable of deception and lies, including lack of empathy. Also, as a woman, she should be ashamed of taking this bad situation that happened to another female and using it to construct her destructive argument.

  3. I read Ms. Schussel’s comments and almost fell off my chair. She is one with the rapists in Tahrir Square. No mean feat for an American “conservative” woman!

I truly feel more sorry for Ms. Schussel than for Ms. Logan. Those who relish the sweet candy of the suffering of others are bound to be sickened by it. It is not a wholesome nourishment to any soul. To me, she will stand as the perfect example of freedom of expression in action. Let the crackpots shine light upon themselves. Ignore her, pity her, hold out hope that she will change. Pray she never suffers what Ms. Logan is going through. Stay strong, Ms. Logan.

  4. I think we should send solders into Egypt and drag the sorry bastards through the streets….Hang them for raping an American citizen…..Makes me sick….

  5. @fdnyretiree,

You’re a stupid asshole politicizing rape. Theres nothing funny about it. Most rapists, pedophiles, terrorists in the world are white males, so what’s your excuse?
Debbie is a goddess to admirers of fat Zionist retards.
